Our mission is to achieve universal access to eye health. Globally more than 2.2 billion people have a vision impairment. Of those at least 1 billion people have a vision impairment that could have been prevented or has yet to be treated. As usual, this burden is not borne equally - it weighs heavily on people from low- and middle-income countries, women, older persons and those from ethnic minorities.
Our track record of success includes managing the Seeing is Believing programme for Standard Chartered Bank worth USD $100m, as well as a sector-critical partnership with the World Health Organization. This has resulted in four World Health Assembly resolutions.
